DSC02032.JPGLast weekend Liz and I ventured to Grand Prarie, TX for the 2009 Heli Blaze Fly In, sponsored by the Golden Triangle Radio Control Club. While it was a good time, it was ridiculously hot!
Temps were into the 100F+ range by 11am, and the sweat flowed freely. I flew quite a bit, but I must admit a lot of the day was spent in the shade trying to stay cool. We all ventured out into the heat to see the local Care Flight helicopter that dropped in though! I took several pictures of that helicopter, which can be found in my album of pictures from the day.

My MSH Protos (now flybarless) ended up on top in the electric drag race event, and the LAHeli Ricco got a lot of attention (and was one of the smallest and lightest helis at the event of course). Be sure and check out the review of the Ricco on the InsideHeli Podcast Reviews website.

Many thanks to Ron Wedel for putting on a great event, and to GTRCC for hosting the event. It was fun! I’ll probably be back next year, but let’s hope it’s not quite so “blazing” hot. ;)

Here are a few videos from the event. Enjoy!
